State police at Clearfield
- The investigation is continuing into an incident of theft that occurred sometime Friday or Saturday on Walnut Street in Gulich Township. During the incident, someone removed a wagon wheel planter, which had three wooden planters from the victim’s front yard. The total value is estimated at $200.
- An incident of harassment occurred Friday at the Philipsburg-Osceola Mills Middle School. During the incident, a 14-year-old Philipsburg girl allegedly assaulted the victim. A citation will be filed against the girl through the district court.
State police at DuBois
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Saturday along Interstate 80 westbound at mile-marker 88.5 in Washington Township. Kendall Ymalay of DuBois lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. It spun sideways and exited the north berm of the roadway and then continued sideways for approximately 200 feet. At the point, her vehicle’s right tire dug in, and her vehicle overturned one time. The Ymalay vehicle came to a rest in the upright position, facing west.
- An incident of aggravated assault and criminal mischief occurred Saturday on West Main Street in Sykesville Borough. During the incident, a DuBois man damaged a Sykesville man’s property. Then, he nearly struck the second vehicle while fleeing the scene; he resisted arrest and was found in possession of drug paraphernalia.
- No injuries were reported after a three-vehicle accident Saturday on Interstate 80 in Brookville Borough. Wesley N. Miller of DuBois, Elizabeth C. Cameron of Mount Pleasant, MI and Widly H. Madelon of Taunton, Mass., were traveling in the left-hand lane at mile-marker 79.8 during a snow storm. Madelon was traveling too fast for roadway conditions in his International Harvester and suddenly came up upon Cameron vehicle, which was traveling slower. Madelon subsequently rear-ended the Cameron vehicle; this pushed the Cameron vehicle into that operated by Miller. Both the Cameron and Miller vehicles came to a rest in the right lane of the North Fork Bridge; the Madelon vehicle came to a rest in front of them in the right-hand lane. State police were assisted at the scene by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services and PennDOT.
State police at Philipsburg
- The investigation is continuing into an incident of burglary that occurred Dec. 6 at the Unionville Borough utility shed. During the incident, a male and female were observed at the shed shortly before its door was damaged; gasoline was also found missing from inside.
- On Nov. 30, an incident of theft occurred on North Seventh Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, someone removed $120 from the victim’s wallet. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report about a suspicious male who was sitting in a vehicle on Witmer Street. Upon arrival police found the male was waiting for someone.
- Police received a report about a male who was reportedly causing a disturbance at the Clearfield YMCA. Upon arrival police spoke with the male and an employee and found that the male was not causing any problems.
- Police received a report about a possible Protection from Abuse order violation.
- Police received a report from an East Fifth Street resident about a hit-and-run accident involving her vehicle. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
- While on routine patrol, police observed the operator of a Ford pick-up truck driving carelessly on East Market Street during a snow storm. Police stopped the vehicle and contacted the male operator who stated he was driving “stupid.” Charges are currently pending.
- Police assisted a disabled motorist on Cemetery Road.
- Police located an intoxicated male on Bridge Street who was causing a disturbance. The male was arrested for his conduct.
- Police checked the welfare of a female and found that she was OK.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident in the Silver Screen parking lot on Saturday. A male was leaving the parking lot in a white pick-up truck and backed into a black passenger car. There was a female passenger in the parked vehicle and minor damage occurred to the car. The female attempted to get the male to stop; however, the male left the parking lot onto North Second Street.
- Police responded to a Clearfield Street residence for a noise coming from the basement. Upon arrival police checked the basement. However, they were unable to find anything.
- Police cited a male for harassment who sent several messages to a female after being advised to stop.
- On Friday, police, along with the state police Clearfield, conducted a detail enforcing the 15 miles per hour speed limit zone along South Second Street in front of St. Francis School. As a result of the detail, 18 citations were filed for speeding and other related offenses. Police will continue to enforce this throughout the school year.
Curwensville Borough
- On Thursday, police responded to a State Street business for a man who had engaged in an argument with the store owner. Upon arrival police found the man had left without incident.
- Police received a report about a door-to-door salesman in the area of Naulton Road. Police would like to remind people to use caution when inviting anyone into their residences. Any salesman should also have a solicitation permit from Curwensville Borough.
- On Saturday, an Olanta woman was arrested for operating her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
- Police transported a male to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for an evaluation.
- On Sunday, police received a report about a shot in the area of Arnoldtown Road. Police found that someone accidentally discharged a weapon.
- Police would like to remind residents that parking is prohibited between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on State and Filbert streets.
