Practical Nursing Clinical Portfolio Cited in new NLN Textbook

The National League for Nursing recently published a new book titled “Innovation in Nursing Education: Building the Future of Nursing.” It was published by Wolters Kluwer Health/Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.

Chapter 12 of the book, “The Clinical Portfolio: A Success Story in Critical Thinking,” was authored by current and previous nursing faculty from the Practical Nursing program at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center.

Contributors to the chapter are: Amy Barrett, MSN, M.Ed, RN; Sharon Kinney, MSN, RN, CNE; Cheryl Krieg, MSN, RNC-OB; Elsie Maurer, MSN, RN, NEA-BC; and Patricia McKnight, MSN, RN. This chapter explores the experiences of the CCCTC practical nursing program during the implementation of the clinical portfolio and its effect on student critical thinking abilities on a standardized critical thinking exam.
