Ohio Man Killed in I-80 Accident

PINE TOWNSHIP – A 24-year-old Youngstown, Ohio man, Darnell J. Lewis Sr., was killed after a single-vehicle accident at 10:20 a.m. Sunday along Interstate 80 westbound at mile-marker 113.2 in Pine Township, reported the state police at Clearfield.

Lewis was traveling westbound in the left-hand lane when his vehicle exited the north berm and impacted an embankment. His vehicle re-entered the roadway and overturned onto its roof before coming to a rest in the right-hand lane.

Lewis was partially ejected from the vehicle and killed as a result of the accident. His passenger, Reana L. Easterling, 22, also of Youngstown, Ohio, and two juveniles were ejected from the vehicle, state police said.

Easterling was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for further medical evaluation. The juvenile passengers were flown to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for further medical evaluation, state police said.

No one was wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The Lewis vehicle was towed from the scene. State police were assisted by the Lawrence Township and Penfield fire departments, Clearfield and DuSan emergency medical services and STAT MedEvac.
