Holiday Splendor Raises $57,000

ALTOONA – The UPMC Altoona Foundation for Life’s annual Holiday Splendor gala and auction raised more than $57,000 to support bronchial thermoplasty, a procedure that alleviates symptoms and improves quality of life for people with severe, persistent asthma.

“We sincerely appreciate all of this year’s 150 attendees, as well as the numerous businesses and individuals who sponsored the event, contributed auction items, and made donations,” said Shirley Hoyne, event coordinator. “Thanks to their dedication and contributions, everyone was able to enjoy a beautiful evening in support of our non-profit community health care system.”

Gala sponsors were Altoona Center for Nursing Care and Cambria Care Center.

Gold sponsors included Altoona OB/GYN Associates, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Balconi, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Murray, Blair Gastroenterology Associates, Blair Medical Associates, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Altoona, Holliday Corvette, Lung Disease Center of Central PA, M&T Bank, S&T Bank, and Southern Alleghenies Elite Orthopedics.

In addition to sponsorship support, Holiday Splendor was a big success due to the time of volunteers, committee members and the staff of The Calvin House.
