Clearfield grad Nick Redden was named Second Team All-NEC

FOOTBALL

PITTSBURGH — Graduate student Nick Redden (Clearfield) was one of nine Duquesne (7-4) players named to the 2013 All-Northeast Conference Team announced last week.

Redden was a second-team selection in a vote of the conference coaches.

The 6-2, 293-pound center had been pegged for first-team honors on the five-man offensive line during the preseason.
Senior guard Frank Balmaceda (Miami, Fla.) also received second-team laurels.

Redden and Balmaceda started side-by-side in 22 consecutive games the last two seasons, including 11 this fall when the Dukes averaged 346 yards and 22.4 points a game.

Duquesne tied Sacred Heart for the NEC championship with a 4-2 record.
