Parking Office Installs New Multi-space Pay Stations throughout Campus

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State Parking Office has announced the addition of new multi-space pay stations at select lot locations on the University Park campus. Installation of the stations is complete and they will be available for use beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.

The Luke II multi-space pay stations being installed are similar to those recently launched indowntown State College. Most of the new units will operate as pay-by-license plate stations, which allow patrons to park in any nonreserved parking space in that lot. Customers then proceed to the pay station in that lot to purchase parking. To use the pay-by-license plate stations, customers will need to enter the license plate number of their vehicle and the desired amount of time they wish to park.

A select number of the units will operate as pay-by-space. Similar to traditional meters, these units are staged near a series of specifically numbered parking spaces and patrons paying for time at the stations may only park in one of those specific spaces. To use the pay-by-space stations, customers will need to enter the space number for the parking space in which they are parked and the desired amount of time they wish to park.

Payment at the pay stations is required during posted hours of reservation for each lot and can be made by major credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Discover), LionCash+ card or with select U.S. coins (nickels, dimes, quarters or dollar coins). Payments made by credit card will incur a minimum $1 charge, even if the desired time is less than one hour. Pay station transactions are not subject to the issuance of change or refunds. In addition, payment does not negate the requirement to abide by all campus parking rules and regulations.

Pay-by-license plate stations will be available at the following campus lots:

– Lot Red A: The fee for parking is $1 per hour with one hour increments available. The maximum time allowed is 10 hours.

– Lot Orange A Katz: The fee for parking is $1 per hour with one hour increments available. The maximum time allowed is four hours.
