UPDATED: State Police Locate Missing Person

UPDATE at 12:47 p.m.

James W. Goss, 52, of Osceola Mills was located in the general vicinity that the search had been conducted last night and this morning, according to the state police at Philipsburg. Goss was cognizant and answered questions prior to being transported to the hospital via ambulance.

RUSH TOWNSHIP – The Philipsburg-based state police are searching for a missing person, James W. Goss, 52, of Osceola Mills.

Yesterday, Goss willingly left his residence in a wheelchair around 9 a.m. without notifying his family of his intended destination. At 2:30 p.m., Goss was seen in an area mainly traversed by all-terrain and off-road vehicles about two miles from his residence.

When asked by a witness at that time, Goss advised he didn’t need any assistance. Goss’ family reported him missing at 5:34 p.m., and troopers and members of the Columbia Fire Company of Osceola Mills searched the area. However, they had negative contact with Goss.

The search, state police said, ended late yesterday and resumed early this morning. Goss is described as standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has long, curly gray hair and a bushy gray beard. Goss was last seen wearing a black toboggan hat, a black sweater jeans and black shoes.

Goss is wheelchair dependent, state police said. Anyone with information on Goss’ whereabouts is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
