Obe C. English, 84, of Morrisdale died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at his home. He was born July 21, 1929 in Bradford Township, a son of the late John and Evelyn (Graham) English.

Mr. English was employed in the lumber business for many years. He worked for the former Kopper Lumber Company, Woodland and P&P Lumber, Deer Creek before retiring from CH&J Lumber Company in Allport.

He was a member of Dales United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post No. 8386, Frenchville and the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club. A veteran of the Korean War, he served two years with the U.S. Marines. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Alan Obe English and his wife, Jerry and Stephen English, both of Woodland; five grandchildren, Amanda and Stephen English Jr. of New Kensington, Chad English and his wife, Tiffany and Jennifer English and her companion, OJ Guenot, all of Woodland and Matt English and his fiancé, Kaylie Derrick of Clearfield; two step-grandchildren, Brittany Ditty and Wesson Shimel; two great-grandsons, Gage M. English of Woodland and Trenton J. English of Clearfield; two sisters, Elizabeth Kephart of Lanse and Vera Snyder of Curwensville; two brothers, Hamer English and his wife, Jean of Woodland and Sam English and his wife, Patty of Frenchville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Jean English and four brothers, Raymond, Walter, Gordon and Blair English.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday the Dales United Methodist Church, Woodland, with the Rev. Kathy Leigey officiating. Burial will be in the Dales Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Dales United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 416, Bigler.
