Obituary Notice: Gertrude Viola McClure

Gertrude Viola McClure, 92, of Olanta died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born March 19, 1921 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Perch William and Dorothy (Wise) Bloom.

Mrs. McClure was employed for 35 years at Schreiber Cheese, Curwensville. She always loved tending to her garden and cherished the time she spent with her granddaughter, Shellie. She attended the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Mrs. McClure is survived by her daughter, Marilynn Gardlock of Olanta and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. McClure on March 12, 1967 and whom she wed in April 1942.  She was also preceded in death by son, Maurice McClure; a granddaughter, Shellie Gardlock; two sisters, Alice and Dorothy; and three brothers, George, William and John Bloom.

Graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family with the Rev Stephen D. Shields officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

According to Mrs. McClure’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 803 Susquehanna Ave., Curwensville.
