Obituary Notice: Frances E. O’Dell

Frances Elverda O’Dell, 97, of Curwensville died Wednesday Nov. 6, 2013 at her residence.

Born June 7, 1916 in Lumber City, she was the daughter of David and Ada (Selfridge) Ferguson.  She was retired from Bayer Clothing/Kent Sportswear of Curwensville. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington.

On Oct. 16, 1937 in Curwensville, she wed Franklin O’Dell, who preceded her in death May 8, 1980.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vincent Ferguson; a sister, Margaret Caldwell; and son-in-law, Raymond Mattingly. She was the last member of her generation.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Sue Mattingly of Loveland, Ohio and Peggy Hill and her husband, the Rev. James of Daphne, AL.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Beth Mattingly of Ohio, Dan Hill of California, Dave Hill of Texas and Pamela Hartman of Missouri and 10 great-grandchildren.

Private family graveside services were held in the chapel of Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde at the convenience of the family.  Burial followed in the cemetery.

At the request of Mrs. O’Dell, there was no public visitation.
