State Police Investigating Theft Incident at Mining Site

RUSH TOWNSHIP – The state police at Philipsburg have initiated an investigation into an incident of theft from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime between 10:30 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Monday off Phoenix Road in Rush Township.

During the incident, the suspect(s) arrived at a remote mining site and removed items owned by the Amfire Mining Co. of Clearfield and Forsyth Drilling Inc. of DuBois. From Amfire Mining, the suspect(s) stole two solid metal doors from a Komatsu 375 dozer; two perforated dozer doors; miscellaneous metal plates and two axle covers.

From Forsyth Drilling, the suspect(s) stole a 24-inch chain wrench; a 24-inch J wrench; a 24-inch breakout wrench; an 18-inch hammer bit; and an 18-inch tri-cone bit. The estimated value of the items stolen from Amfire Mining and Forsyth Drilling was
$5,000 and $2,700, respectively.
