WJAC-TV: Elk Co. Firefighter Dies in Line of Duty

FOX TOWNSHIP – An Elk County volunteer firefighter has died after suffering a medical incident while at the scene of vehicle accident Saturday.

The Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department said Blaine “Skeeter” Wildnauer Jr., 58, died after suffering cardiac arrest. He was at an accident scene at about 10:45 a.m. on Old Kersey Road in Fox Township.

The Elk County coroner’s office ruled his death by natural causes, without offering specific details. Details were being withheld at the request of his family.

Wildnauer’s death is the second line of duty death by a firefighter in the 75-year history of the department. Another firefighter died of a medical emergency on a call in 1956. Wildnauer had been a volunteer with the fire company for 40 years.
