Michael D. Danko, 87, of Osceola Mills died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Susan (Fonslik) Danko born Oct. 2, 1926 in Osceola Mills.  He married Rose M. (Cowell) Danko on Aug. 31, 1948 in Osceola Mills.  She preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2013.

Mr. Danko was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills, where he was a former member of the church choir.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2250 in Osceola Mills.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 5020 in Osceola Mills and of the American Legion Gorman Peters Post No. 313 in Osceola Mills. He judged the annual Osceola Mills Fireman’s Parade for more than 50 years.

He was a retired Agent/Yardmaster for Conrail and the owner and operator of the former Danko’s Dairy Frost in Osceola Mills.  He was a 1944 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Kozak and Anna Van Leeuwen and two brothers, Joseph Danko and John Danko.

Mr. Danko is survived by two daughters, Deborah Zeiders and her husband, Rick of Harrisburg and Dawn Marie Sariano and her husband David of Halifax and five sons, Daniel M. Danko and his wife, Linda and Drew J. Danko, both of Osceola Mills, Doug Danko and his wife, Barb of New Castle, Dennis Danko and his wife, Raquel of Chesapeake, VA and Desmond Danko and his wife, Laura of Irwin.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Craig Danko, Trevor Danko, Aaron Danko, Danielle Wylie, Colby Zeiders, Brent Zeiders, Robby Zeiders, Allison McFeeders, Andrea Wagner, Ashley Pavone, Michelle Danko, D.J. Danko, Dane Danko, Kyle Danko, Kristin Sariano, Joseph Sariano and Michael Danko and nine great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osceola Mills.  Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
