CLEARFIELD – Paving work will occur today on Route 53 in Bigler Township, Clearfield County. The work zone stretches for about 1,000 feet near the intersection of Route 53 and Route 2009 (Union Street).
The one-day paving operation will mill and repave a damaged area of Route 53 caused by heavy hauler operations. Flaggers will be in the roadway to direct an alternating traffic pattern.
Motorists need to remain alert for flaggers, sudden stops and short travel delays. When work is complete, this section of Route 53 will re-open to two-way traffic. Dependent on work progress, two-lane traffic may return to the roadway before dark.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Glenn O. Hawbaker is the contractor for these roadway repairs, which are being funded by Campbell Oil and Gas Inc.
PennDOT reminds drivers to obey posted speed limits and use caution through all work zones.
