DuBois City Aims to “Hold the Line” on Property Taxes

DUBOIS – The DuBois City Council will aim to “hold the line” on property taxes, as well as both its water and sewer rates when preparing its upcoming-year budget.

Further, Councilman Jim Aughenbaugh said the council doesn’t want to increase property taxes due to the age of its population.  He also praised some projects that DuBois City has completed over the last year, including the Brady Street improvement, Shower’s Field and the underpass walkway.

Councilman Randy Schmidt said that water and sewer rates were equally as important as property taxes.  He added that he didn’t want to put City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio in a bind with his statement.

“The wells are a huge project,” said Schmidt, adding it’s another project that DuBois City has been working on. Schmidt said DuBois City may be able to hook into the wells sometime next year.

Suplizio said that he would aim to work on the upcoming-year’s budget with the council’s wishes to “hold the line” on property taxes and water and sewer rates.
