Obituary Notice: Janet L. Brubaker

Janet L. Brubaker, 71, of Rockton died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at her home. Born Oct. 22, 1942 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Grace (Yount) Bush.

On Aug. 4, 1979, she married Harold W. “Hod” Brubaker.  He survives.

She was a homemaker and was the organizer of the yearly Gary Brubaker Memorial Softball Tournament held each September in Rockton that benefitted the Make a Wish Foundation.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton; she loved to read and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by six children, Michael McGough and his wife, Stephanie;  Brenda Hendricks and her husband, Jeffrey; Diana Horn and her husband, Alan, Cary Platt and her husband, Robert and Tara Bennett and her husband, Stacey, all of Rockton and Sandi Henry and her fiancé, Jeffrey Christini of Brockway.

Also surviving are two step-children, Karen DeLoia and her husband, Tony and Kevin Brubaker, both of DuBois; six brothers and sisters, Robert Bush and his wife, Thelma; Raymond Bush and his wife, Shirley; Lillian Brown and her husband, Arnold; Judy Heberling and her husband, Louie and Richard Bush, all of DuBois and William Bush and his wife, Christine of Florida. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her step-son, Gary Brubaker; her granddaughter, Lexie Wise and her sister-in-law, Melody Bush.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton With Pastor Jennifer Gonsalves officiating. Burial will follow in Rockton Cemetery.

Memorials may be placed with the Hanne Cancer Center, and or DuBois Regional Medical Center Hospice, both of 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801, and or the Make a Wish Foundation, 312 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
