CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County is now accepting applications for projects to be funded through its Affordable Housing Trust, announced Planning Director Jodi Brennan at Tuesday’s commissioner’s meeting.
Projects must increase the availability of quality affordable housing either through sales or rental units to any county resident whose annual income is less than the median income, she said. The county, she said, will consider projects that include owner-occupied rehabilitation, rental rehabilitation, first-time home buyers programs, housing counseling programs, emergency repair programs, elderly, special needs and disabled housing, veterans housing, new home construction, land banks, transitional housing, homeless shelters, community stabilization programs, foreclosure prevention, emergency rental assistance and bridge loans for rental housing development.
The Affordable Housing funding can be used to match federal, state and or local program funding for initiatives in Clearfield County. Eligible applicants include municipal governments, housing and or redevelopment authorities and or other related agencies, non-profits, and or developers, and a match is required. Individuals, however, are not eligible for the Affordable Housing funding, said Brennan.
Anyone with affordable housing project ideas is encouraged to contact Brennan at the Clearfield County Planning & Community Development Office. If eligible, she said applicants must provide their experience and qualifications, identify the project need, describe the project, identify the project’s goals, objectives and outcomes, provide a timeline for the project and its budget and funding leverage, list project partners, site control for the project and provide a certification letter summarizing the application and agreeing to information supplied and certifying the application is complete and true.
Program guidelines and applications are available upon request by contacting the CCPCD Office. The office is located in the Clearfield County Administrative Offices at 212 E. Locust St., Suite 128, Clearfield, PA 16830 and can be reached by phone at 814-765-5149. All applications are due back to the CCPCD Office by 4 p.m. Dec. 2.
