Son Headed to Trial for Assaulting Father

CLEARFIELD – A son accused of assaulting his father had all charges held for court by Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling after a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Scott Allen Ball, 27, of Morann has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He’s incarcerated at the CCJ in lieu of $25,000 bail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 9:24 p.m. Oct. 11, the Clearfield-based state police were dispatched to a father/son domestic dispute at a North Railroad Street residence. Upon arrival at the scene, state police encountered the victim who was covered in blood.

The victim was bleeding from the bridge of his nose and his upper and lower lips. His face appeared to have swelling and both of his eyes were black and blue, the affidavit states.

The victim was sitting outside of his residence when state police arrived at the scene. He told state police that he was sleeping in his bedroom when his son, Ball, physically assaulted him. The victim told state police when he woke up he was being assaulted by Ball.

Ball was located inside the residence, where he was lying on his bed. He was uncooperative and told state police that his father was deceased. State police observed blood on both of Ball’s hands.

The victim’s daughter was also located inside the residence and upstairs at the time of the incident. She told state police that she heard banging and screaming. When she realized her father was the one screaming she ran downstairs.

She found her father lying in a pool of blood at the foot of his bed. She said Ball was standing beside him and told her, “I just killed dad and what are going to (expletive) do about it.”
