Wanted NC Fugitive Apprehended in DuBois

DUBOIS – Jeffrey Allen Bortz, 30, of North Carolina and a fugitive from justice, was taken into custody Monday and lodged in the Clearfield County Jail, according to the DuBois City police.

DuBois and Sandy Township police were dispatched to the DuBois Regional Medical Center – West for a wanted North Carolina man. He had an active felony warrant that had been out against him for a motor vehicle theft reported on Sept. 17 in Alexander County, NC.

Police were notified the man was operating a red Ford Ranger. He was pulled over by Sandy Township police in the parking lot of the Hahne Cancer Center. Upon being taken into custody, he was arraigned and lodged in the CCJ in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police also found that the man’s Pennsylvania registration plate had been entered as stolen in Sandy Township.  Further investigation into the truck’s identification number revealed that it was entered as stolen by the Huntersville Police in North Carolina.
