Dog Day Fun Run/Walk Slated for Oct. 20

CLEARFIELD – The Animal Welfare Council of the Alleghenies will host its first-ever Dog Day Fun 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 20 at the Curwensville Lake.

Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 1 p.m., and the run/walk will kick off at 2 p.m. All participants are welcome to bring their dog to walk or run along with them.

However, all dogs must be on a leash and have proof of a rabies vaccine. The event will take place every year in the spring in conjunction with the Curwensville Dog Park opening for the summer season.

If you pre-register by Monday, you will be guaranteed a T-shirt. You can do so by calling the Animal Welfare Council at 814-857-5282. Please leave a message with your name, age, T-shirt size and a phone number.

The entry fee for the 5K run/walk is $17, and the one-mile fun walk is $12. Certificates will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in all age groups. Water stations will be at every mile maker for runners/walkers and pets. Door prizes will be awarded at the conclusion; however, you must be present to win.

The Animal Welfare Council of the Alleghenies is a non-profit organization who owns and operates the Allegheny Spay & Neuter Clinic located in Woodland, as well as doing various animal-related activities such an area pet food pantry, education, dog house projects, and recycling for animals. All proceeds benefit animals in the area.
