As unconventional well production has grown exponentially over the past few years, getting natural gas to market is of key concern. Dave Messersmith, Penn State Extension educator with the Marcellus Education Team, will discuss major pipeline projects, industry trends, and recent and pending pipeline legislation during the Oct. 17 monthly Shale webinar series.
This month’s webinar, “Pennsylvania Natural Gas Pipeline Roundup” will be held from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Oct. 17. Messersmith will discuss some of the major transmission line projects in Pennsylvania, explore recommendations from the 2012 Pipeline Placement Report that was authorized by Act 13 and examine the Pipeline Safety Act and currently proposed Senate bills dealing with pipeline.
As part of the Marcellus Education Team, Messersmith has developed a special interest in natural gas pipeline and midstream infrastructure. He authored the Marcellus Education Fact Sheet, “Negotiating Pipeline Rights-of-Way in Pennsylvania” and has spoken on the subject nationally and internationally. “Pipeline construction across the Commonwealth is likely to continue at a rapid pace for the next several years. Now is the time, as this infrastructure build out is taking place, to get it right,” according to Messersmith.
