Mary Elizabeth Maines, 88 of Clearfield entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was the wife of the late Wesley G. Maines, whom died Aug. 28, 1989. Born May 1, 1925 in LeContes Mills, she was the daughter of the late John Fulton Reynolds and Alta (Jury) Lingle.
She was employed with Clearfield Furs as a rug maker. Prior to that, she was employed with Curtis Wright Engineering in the mid 1950’s. She was a member of the Susquehanna CB Club and the LeContes Mills Sportsmen’s Club.
Mrs. Maines enjoyed making pies for her clubs, playing bingo and hunting.
Surviving are a son, Benson K. Maines and his wife, Bonnie of Frenchville; two granddaughters, Sabrina Lutz of Clearfield and Belinda Maines of Morrisdale; and two great-granddaughters, Brittany Michelle Tibbens and Morgan Christine Whited and her husband, Nathan.
Also surviving are one great-grandson, Dylan Wesley Lutz; one great-great-grandson, Julian Panebianco; and five sisters, Rose Ecker and her husband, Keith of Austell, GA; Jeanette Maines and her husband, Luke of Curwensville, Velma Owens and Nellie Lope, both of Clearfield and Margie Hummel and her husband, Darrell of LeContes Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, an infant son, Daniel Wesley Maines and two sisters, Ellen Liegey and Daisy Owens.
A service to celebrate the life of Mary Elizabeth Maines will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, with the Rev. John White officiating.
A time to share memories with the family will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gillingham Cemetery, LeContes Mills.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
