Coalport Center,, CPAC to Walk Against Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The Coalport Center for Active Living and Coalition for People Against Cancer (CPAC) are joining together to Walk Against All Cancers on Oct. 19.

You can have friends and family walk in memory of, or in honor of, a loved one.  You can make it a fun morning by doing a theme for your group, such as dress crazy, wear a funny hat and or  wear a color for the different types of cancers.*

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Beechwood Park.  The walk will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. It will start at the park, go north to the corner of Mill and Main streets, head south to Hickory Street and loop back down into the park.

There is no charge to walk, but donations will greatly be appreciated and all proceeds will go to CPAC.

This little known organization has done great things in our community.  Each year the CPAC group takes women to the Clearfield Hospital for mammograms.  Transportation to and from the hospital, plus a free meal, is provided. The date for this year is Oct. 16.  Registration is required through the Glendale Medical Center (GMC).

Also during the Christmas season, any cancer patient who is actively being treated receives gift certificates from local stores.  The GMC distributes the certificates and the person’s identity is not revealed.  This is available one time per person for anyone in the Glendale Valley District.
