Ruth G. Dixon, 90, of DuBois died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, one day after celebrating her 65th wedding anniversary, at Valley View Nursing Home in Altoona.
Born Jan. 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Clyde A. and Kittie (Hirst) Hoover. On Oct. 2, 1948, she married Carl W. “Bill” Dixon. He survives.
She retired from the Riverside Market in DuBois. Prior to that, she worked at Electrolux.
She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in DuBois. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Paul W. Dixon and his wife, Patty of Altoona and Karen A. Michael of DuBois; five grandchildren, Michael Murray, McKenna Dixon, Marina Dixon, Christina Kinder and Dylan Michael; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Dixon and her sister, Doris Hoover Naugle.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kelley Schanely officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
