Herbert Barr, 85, of Luthersburg died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
Born Sept. 3, 1928 in Coolspring, he was the son of the late Don and Gladys (Kunselman) Barr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He worked at Osburn Machine Shop in DuBois for many years until its closing.
Mr. Barr enjoyed hunting.
He was married to Josephine A. Barr. She preceded him in death in May of 1999.
He is survived by his children, Shirley “Diane” White and her husband, Randy of Lewis Run, Don M. Barr of Clearfield, Deb A. Thomas and her husband, David of Mohnton and Herbert Barr and his wife, Nancy of DuBois; two sisters, Marcella Strouse and Patty Surkala, both of Reynoldsville; two brothers, David Barr and Don Barr, both of DuBois; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barr was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, James, Robert and Theodore Barr and two sisters, Evelyn St. Claire and Margie Brown.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Sherwood officiating.
Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
