Obituary Notice: Colette R. Sedlak

Colette R. Sedlak of State College and formerly of Winburne died at Greenhills Village, State College.

Born Jan. 29, 1926 in Hayange, France, she was the daughter of Henri and Catherine (Grosse) Amet.

She grew up in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France during World War II. She came to the United States in 1946.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of State College and a former member of the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church of Winburne.

She was formerly employed at the Bell Restaurant in Kylertown and was a volunteer at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.

On July 26, 1947, she married Martin Sedlak in Charleroi.

She’s survived by two sons, Colin M. Sedlak and his wife, Catherine of Allport and Eugene J. Sedlak of Munson and three daughters, Mary K. Marince and her husband, Lawrence of Winburne, Yvonne M. Riley and her husband, Christopher of Boalsburg and Shirley A. Henry and her husband, Bryan of State College.

Surviving are 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Coval and Jeremy Sedlak, both of Winburne, Erin Joseph of York, Laura Sedlak of Millheim, Nathaniel Sedlak of Munson, Matthew Marince and his wife, Melissa of Schenectady, NY, Vernon Marince and his wife, Patricia of Abington, MD, Jessica Henry of Pleasant Gap, Kaitlyn Henry of Baltimore, MD and Alaina Henry and Mark Henry, both of State College; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are three sisters, Renee Zonca of Juan-les-Pins, France, Rosette Bogusz of Thionville, France and Charlotte Amet of Wilrijk Antwerpen, Belgium and one brother, Henri Amet of Metz, France.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 3, 1991, an infant daughter and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Morrisdale, with the Father Robert Horgas as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Cemetery, Winburne.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale.
