Police: DuBois Man Jailed for Home Invasion

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – A DuBois man, Ned Caldwell III, has been charged with a home invasion that occurred Friday night in the Glen Richey area, according to Chief Mark Brooks of the Lawrence Township police.

Caldwell is facing charges of burglary, criminal trespass, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and several other offenses. He’s been arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins and housed in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched for a home invasion involving a male who was allegedly armed with a handgun and who entered a residence. The resident and another female fled to a room upstairs; however, the intruder allegedly forced his way through a door, which led to their room.

The intruder then pointed a handgun at the victims. At that point, a male resident struck the intruder in the head area with a baseball bat in order to protect himself. The intruder fled the scene in his vehicle, police alleged in the report.

Upon arrival police learned the identity of the intruder, Caldwell, and issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for the male and his vehicle. He was located in DuBois by Sandy Township police, and he was taken into custody. Caldwell was taken to the hospital for treatment of a head injury.
