CLEARFIELD – “Here’s to the praise of Clearfield High.”

That sentiment echoed loud and true throughout the field and stands, as 60 alumni band members joined the Clearfield High School marching band in celebration at the homecoming football game on a crisp, Friday evening in October of 2012.  The alumni who participated spanned more than 50 years of band front and instrumentalists from the class of 1955 through the class of 2012. The one thing they all had in common was fond memories of their high school years in marching band.

These memories could be seen in many forms, as these alumni proudly participated in the Alma Mater, National Anthem and traditional football melodies. You could feel the emotions through the grandmother who had her daughter and three grandchildren on the field with her, through the several mothers and daughters who were performing together, through the newlyweds, through the set of four sisters, through the mother whose son was also celebrating a milestone birthday, and through the eyes of the awestruck first grader who is dreaming of the day he can be a part of the band as he watches his mother and aunt.

The reflections go on and on.

The thread that binds these alumni together is their memories and knowledge of how important the music program is at Clearfield High School. This year’s alumni band night is set for Oct. 11. It will be an evening of remembering times in CHS marching band and taking your spot on the field among the 2013 band members.

Please contact Jeanie Jacobs at bisonalumniband@mail.com or 814-765-7185 or Ray Mandell at rmandell@clearfield.orq. Music will be provided by Mandell.  So bring your instruments, batons, silks and dress in red and black for the reception that starts at 5:30 p.m. and pre-game at 6:30 p.m.

For those who reply by Oct. 5, your name will be included in a small program. Please provide a graduation year and let us know if you are related to any current band members. Once a Bison, always a Bison.
