CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott announced at last night’s meeting the award of a $3 million grant through the state Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to fund a streetscape project in downtown Clearfield.
Stott said the project will encompass two blocks of Market Street, including Front and Second streets and from Cherry to Bridge streets. She said the project will include new sidewalks and curbs, with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pedestrian crossings, new traffic sensor loops and lighting. She said older trees will be removed and replaced with lower growing trees that will not interfere with utility lines.
Borough council approved a resolution to accept the grant. Stott said work will begin in the spring.
