CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s third annual Fall Festival/Pumpkin Run 5K will take place Oct. 12.

The Pumpkin Run will be held rain or shine with registration from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. The race will officially begin at 8:30 a.m. The CRC will also be hosting its second-ever “Parade of Paws,” a Trial Mile again this year.

The Parade of Paws is a one-mile route within the 5K race for anyone interested in walking a sheltered dog from the Gateway Humane Society or Clearfield County SPCA.  Registration to secure your sheltered dog for the day of the race can be filled out and sent to the CRC office at 125 E. Market St., Clearfield, PA 16830.

The forms can be accessed at www.clearfieldpumpkinrun.com. Interested persons should read all restrictions before filling out the form. Each person who registers to walk a sheltered dog will get a “Parade of Paws” T-shirt.

There will be a $10 donation fee with half the proceeds going back to the Gateway Humane Society and the Clearfield County SPCA. All registration forms must be received by Sept. 27.

The CRC is also accepting donations to become a Parade of Paws T-shirt sponsor. The businesses’ names will be printed on the back of each T-shirt. The CRC will be accepting sponsors until Sept. 27. These donations will help pay for the cost of the T-shirts, so that the registration fee will go back directly to the shelters. Any leftover donation money will get distributed evenly between the shelters.

Each year more than 6 million sheltered animals are dropped off at shelters. During this Trial Mile, the CRC hopes that participants will fall in love with their shelter dog and be able to go through the adoption process after the race during the adoption event at the Shaw Public Library, Then, the participants’ happy, furry friend will get a second chance at a forever home.

However, there isn’t any obligation to adopt a pet. The dogs at the shelter will be overjoyed to just be walked by a new friend for the day. Both shelters will have an informational table at the library the morning of the race to gather more information and related ways to help out.

This event will be a first-come, first-serve basis, and the CRC hopes that all the dogs will be walked that day. If all of the dogs are registered for and you would still like to help out the Humane Society  or the SPCA, they both will be accepting donations, such as canned dog food, collars, leashes, paper towels, bleach, etc.
