However, Moscow’s plan failed to change Washington’s mind as the latter maintained its threat to launch military strikes on the Middle Eastern country.
DEP Awards $1.3 Million Mine Reclamation Contract in Clearfield County

“Together we pause and we pray and we give humble thanks — as families and as a nation — for the strength and the grace that from the depths of our despair has brought us up again, has revived us again, has given us strength to keep on,” said Obama in his speech delivered at 9:32 a.m. “We pray for the memory of all those taken from us — nearly 3,000 innocent souls. County Hears North Central Region Update
CLEARFIELD – Yesterday, Eric Bridges, executive director of the North Central Regional Planning & Development Commission, presented his annual update to the Clearfield County Commissioners.
North Central is the designated Local Development District for the counties of Clearfield, Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter. Further, North Central facilitates industrial site location, economic growth, workforce quality and business opportunities within the six-county region.
Corbett Issues Statement, Proclamation for Patriot Day
HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Corbett today issued a proclamation and the following statement in honor of Patriot Day, remembering those who were killed and injured during the terrorist attacks in America on this date in 2001.
“As we mark Patriot Day, it is fitting to remember that the first battlefield in the War on Terror was a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and its first soldiers were the brave passengers aboard United Flight 93,” Corbett said.
DuBois Man to Stand Trial in Meth Lab Case
DUBOIS – A DuBois man will stand trial for having a methamphetamine lab in his home.
Steven F. Sunealitis, 53, 1233 S. Main St., DuBois, is charged with manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, deposits/stores/disposes of chemical waste used in the manufacture of methamphetamines, intentional possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court.
County Intends to Part Ways with ATA
CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County intends to part ways with the Area Transportation Authority (ATA), according to Commissioner Chairperson Joan Robinson-McMillen. The commissioners have been voicing concerns and attempting to get answers from the ATA about its operations since June.
Financial Adviser Headed to Trial for Stealing $120K from Client
CLEARFIELD – A financial adviser from Ramey accused of stealing $120,000 from a client’s annuity and depositing it into his business account in October of 2010 had all charges held for court after a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Frank Charles Stewart, 47, of Ramey has been charged with forgery/ unauthorized act in writing, three counts; forgery/utters forged writing, three counts; theft by unlawful taking; theft by deception; receiving stolen property; and access device issued to another person who didn’t authorize use.
