CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a second burglary and theft of firearms at the Bob’s Army & Navy Store, located at 229 E. Market St., in downtown Clearfield, according to District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.

Shaw stated that at approximately 11:57 p.m. Thursday, officers from the Clearfield Borough Police Department were dispatched to the store for a reported burglary. The Lawrence Township and Curwensville Borough police departments, the Pennsylvania State Police, members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and Constable Terry Morgan also assisted at the crime scene.

Upon arrival police determined that someone had entered the store by smashing out a front door window. Police further determined that a glass display case near the gun counter had been smashed open. An unknown number of handguns from that display case were stolen, stated Shaw.

Video surveillance of the incident is currently being reviewed by police, according to Shaw. He stated police investigated a previous burglary and theft of firearms at Bob’s Army & Navy on Sunday, and both burglaries are currently under investigation.

Shaw explained that this type of dangerous criminal activity is completely unacceptable, and every conceivable effort is being made to identify and arrest the criminals responsible for these crimes. He also announced that the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about both burglaries and thefts of firearms from the store and has increased the reward to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the burglaries.
