LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – An accident claimed the life of a 42-year-old Baltimore, MD man late Tuesday night on Interstate 80 eastbound at mile-marker 116 in Lawrence Township, reported the state police at Clearfield.
The man was traveling in the right-hand lane when he lost control of his vehicle, which traveled north across the roadway into the median. His vehicle continued through the median before becoming airborne and overturning several times, state police said.
The man who was not wearing his seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle, which came to a final rest in the westbound lane, facing west and blocking the roadway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clearfield County Coroner’s office, state police said, noting his identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Interstate 80 was closed for several hours for the accident investigation. State police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, the Lawrence Township Fire Department and the Clearfield County Coroner’s office.
