CLEARFIELD — Devin Jones and Thomas Summers turned in impressive mound performances to propel the Clearfield VFW Teener fall baseball team to a season-opening sweep against Moshannon Valley and Bellefonte at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field Sunday afternoon.
Jones racked up 15 strikeouts in a two-hit gem for a 3-0 victory over Mo Valley, while Summers limited Bellefonte to five hits in a 6-2 win.
A pair of singles by Curtis Collins and doubles by Cole Kephart and Logan Puit accounted for all of Clearfield’s hits in the first game of the triangular that saw Bellefonte also blank Mo Valley, 5-0.
In the nightcap, Collins again had two hits, Sawyer Rowles added a double and Kaleb Taylor drove in two runs to back Summers.
