Elizabeth V. Yontos, 92, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at the Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg.
She was born June 8, 1921 in Winburne, the daughter of the late William and Ethel Lucas Nearhood. Mrs. Yontos was a member of the Winburne Presbyterian Church, Winburne.
Mrs. Yontos was a homemaker.
She married John Yontos on Dec. 3, 1938 in Morrisdale. He preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1968.
She’s survived by three daughters, Betty Sudik and her husband, Pete of Orlando, Fla. and Gloria Simcox and her companion, Larry Cerifko and Kathleen Pollock and her husband, Andy, both of Philipsburg and one son, John Yontos of Pennsylvania.
Also surviving are two brothers, Earl Narehood and his wife, Mary of Winburne and Leroy Nearhood and his wife, Janet of Philipsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Helen and Thomas; one sister, Alice Schmidt; and four brothers, Russell, Ray, Floyd and Bob Nearhood.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with Lay Minister Gary Jewart officiating. Burial will be in the Messiah Baptist Cemetery, Kylertown.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
