Fire Causes $350,000 Worth of Damage to Kersey Motor Company

KERSEY – A fire caused $350,000 worth of damage to the Kersey Motor Company, located at 108 Zola St., at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday in Fox Township.  The fire has been ruled accidental in nature, reported the state police at Ridgway.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal investigated the origin and cause of the fire that damaged the steel-framed commercial building. The building measured 40 feet by 80 feet and housed an auto body repair shop, state police said.

The auto body repair shop was closed and unoccupied at the time of the fire. However, multiple vehicles were inside the garage and damaged by the fire, state police said. Kersey Motor Company is owned by Leo (Dave) Surra of Kersey.

The Fox Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Crystal Fire Department.
