Shirley J. Wittlinger, 77, of Drifting died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, after an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Margaret Rader Josephson.
Mrs. Wittlinger graduated from the former Cooper Township High School in 1953. She was a secretary for many years and had retired from both the Penn State University and Cooper Township.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanse. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with loved ones.
She’s survived by a son, Ward Wittlinger and his wife, Vicki of Drifting; a sister, Margaret Burns of Philipsburg; and a grandson, Max of Drifting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Charles and one sister, Joan.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse, with the Rev. Matthew Finney officiating. Burial will be in the Grassflat-Lanse Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
