I-80 Work in Centre County Winds Down

All traffic control will be lifted Sept. 6

STATE COLLEGE – Work to improve a section of Interstate 80 in Centre County is winding down, with pavement marker installation set for Sept. 4-5. The overall project will extend the life of the pavement and provide updated guide rail along both directions of the highway.

With paving work completing, traffic restrictions will be lifted between mile-marker 164 and mile-marker 170 from Aug. 30 through Sept. 3 to accommodate Labor Day holiday traffic.

After Labor Day, crews will return to the work zone to install the new, reflective pavement markers and motorists may encounter lane restrictions during that work on Sept. 4-5. All traffic controls will be removed Sept. 6.

Suit-Kote Corp. of Tully, N.Y., has been the contractor on this $1.6 million job, which is ending six weeks ahead of schedule. Drivers are reminded to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
