Charles W. Keen, 84, of DuBois died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at his residence.
Born Feb. 3, 1929 in Phoenix, MO, he was the son of the late Virgil and Mary Mae (Bodenhammer) Keen. On March 3, 1967, he married Janis (Goetz) Kimberling Keen. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.
Mr. Keen was a longstanding member of the Ironworkers Local Union #55. He enjoyed his family, his pipe and a good prank. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and was a lifetime member of DAD’s Horseshoe Club.
He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Foster and her husband, Dale of Springfield, MO, Mary Katheryn Keen of and Susan Shaffer and her husband, Larry, both of DuBois and Wendy Gangloff of Honolulu, HI; four sons, Randall Keen and his wife, Laura of Fairmount City, Norman Kimberling of Josephine, Neal Kimberling and his wife, Betsy of Cogan Station and Nathan Kimberling of DuBois; his brothers, Ray and Lon; his sisters, Myrt, Ireta, Betty, Wilma and Alma. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Keen was preceded in death by his step-mother, Nora; his brothers, Gene, Don and Russ; and one sister, Francis.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. A military ritual service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Saturday by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lakelawn Cemetery.
