CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of Aug. 26.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Robert Eric Kearney, 38, of Altoona. Kearney is wanted for failure to appear at Plea and Sentencing Court on July 9.

On Nov. 5, 2012, Trooper Michael Moskel of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Kearney with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Moskel states that on Oct. 26, 2012, the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the Chest Falls Campground in Greenwood Township for an alleged assault. Upon investigation it was found that Kearney and the victim had been verbally arguing. He then punched the victim in the mouth and nose. State police also found that Kearney had struck the victim several times with a canopy pipe.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 20, at which time all charges were held for court. On July 9 Kearney failed to appear for Plea and Sentencing Court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Kearney is described as a Caucasian male who stands 6 feet tall. He has green eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with knowledge of Kearney’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
