Forn D. Owens, 79, of Woodland, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  He was the husband of the late Barbara E. (Jordon) Owens, whom died Feb. 18, 2003.

Born July 1, 1934 in Eden, he was the son of the late Seymour Forn and Sarah (Hainsey) Owens.

Mr. Owens worked as a coal miner in the deep mine for his father.  He also worked with R.D. Green of Woodland where he drove coal truck.

He worked for 16 years at Piper Aircraft in Quehanna. He also worked for 16 years with Sky Haven Coal Company for his brother until his retirement July 1, 1999.

Mr. Owens was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, where he had been a board member and treasurer.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Surviving are a son David W. Owens and his wife, Deborah E. of Woodland; two grandchildren Amanda J. Owens and John Douglas Owens; five brothers, Robert “Teen” Owens, Joseph Owens, Harold L. Owens, Arthur Owens and Edwin Owens; one sister, Shirley Swaggert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; three brothers, Dr. Blake C. Owens, MD, Richard Owens and Clarence Owens; and one sister, Evelyn Owens.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Forn D. Owens will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 45 Alliance Rd., Clearfield, PA 16830, with the Rev. Dr. Duane White officiating.

A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA 16830 and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
