Obituary Notice: Florence M. Gallaher

Florence M. Gallaher, 87, of the Philipsburg Towers and formerly of West Decatur, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.

Born March 15, 1926 in West Decatur, she was a daughter of the late Willard R. and Bertha (Beach) Millner. On Oct. 25, 1945 in Philipsburg, she married Marshall W. Gallaher, whom died May 22, 2005.

She is survived by two sons, Willard L. Gallaher and his wife, Kathryn of West Decatur and William M. Gallaher of Lebanon; a daughter, Tina Hawkins and her husband, Herbert Jr. of Morrisdale; a brother, Donald Millner and his wife, Betty of Florida; eight grandchildren, Barry Gallaher, William Gallaher II, Brandi Murray, Jason Gallaher, Janel Vancas, Vanessa Reese, Katelyn Ward and Heather Nolan; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a nephew, Marshall Straw and his wife, Betty Sue of West Decatur, whom she considered as a son of her own.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Batchelder and Lettie Eckberg and a brother, Leroy Millner.

She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, West Decatur, and was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert L. Ford officiating. Burial will be in Stoneville Cemetery, West Decatur RD. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
