Arthur T. Roxby Sr., 91, of Philipsburg died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at his home.
He was the son of the late George and Lillian Mae (Eustace) Roxby born Feb. 21, 1922 in Inkermann. He married the former June E. Price on Feb. 8, 1941 in West Decatur. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2011.
Mr. Roxby attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in West Decatur and was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed contractor and carpenter until retiring.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Roxby was preceded in death by six brothers, Arlington, John, George, Raymond, Elmer and James Roxby and four sisters, Beatrice Kohn, Anna Wustrich, Lillian Lubinsky and Lenora Taber. He was the last of his generation.
He is survived by two sons, the Rev. Arthur T. Roxby Jr. and his wife, the Rev. Irene Roxby and Robert J. Roxby Sr. and his wife, Patti, all of Philipsburg. He is also survived by four grandchildren, the Rev. Dr. Arthur T. Roxby III and his wife, Allyson of Milford, DE, Christopher S. Roxby of West Decatur, the Rev. Patrick R. Roxby and his wife Karen of Edinboro and Robert J. Roxby Jr. of Philipsburg; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg, with the Rev. John Versaw officiating. Burial will be at the Mock’s Hill Cemetery in West Decatur.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
