CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC), has announced that Chris Renaud will return as its director of planning and development for one year.
Renaud was born and raised in Clearfield and has long been a supporter of the Clearfield community. He’s held internships with the CRC for the past two summers. Last year he presented a strategic plan to the CRC for the sustainable development of key borough institutions.
Renaud graduated as salutatorian of the Clearfield High School in the class of 2009. Then, he graduated summa cum laude from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and philosophy last May. He plans to attend law school in the fall of 2014.
Renaud stated, “The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. is an organization, which I have admired since its incorporation five years ago. This is the community that has made me who I am, and I wish nothing more than to see it succeed. Clearfield has given me so much, and now it is time to give back. The CRC has given me the opportunity to do exactly that.”
“Chris Renaud’s return will give the CRC an opportunity to focus on future development and sustainability,” stated Lisa Kovalick, Clearfield County community development specialist and CRC board member.
According the PA Downtown Center, a healthy downtown and surrounding residential neighborhoods can: spur business development; increase the local tax base; create jobs; stimulate the housing market; increase occupancy rates; fight sprawl; draw investors; rehabilitate empty buildings; reflect the history of the community; promote civic pride; utilize existing infrastructure; increase community involvement; reaffirm commitment; and inspire involvement from local leaders
The CRC recently hired Heather Bozovich as Main Street manager for Clearfield.
Keely Casteel, CRC president, stated, “Current goals of the CRC are empowering our community about revitalization, increasing value in downtown, and finding solutions for financial independence for the CRC. Between Heather and Chris, we are optimistic of a vibrant future. We are thankful to have these two as part of the CRC team.”
