Duane A. Peters, 89, of Woodland died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at his home. He was born March 4, 1924, in Woodland, the son of Ashley D. and Bertha M. (Graham) Peters.

He had worked as an assistant mail carrier, school bus driver, winter worker for the township and CV-Fink Coal Company. He was also the owner and operator of the Peters Dairy Farm since 1945.

He was a member and chairman of the ASCS Committee, PA Farmers Association and a director at United Electric.  He had a great love for farming and baseball.

He attended the Bigler Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, where he taught Sunday school.

He is survived by his wife, Pleasant (Shearer) Peters, whom he married Dec. 25, 1949; four children, Dennis Peters and his wife, Deborah, Diane Albert and her husband, Ernest and Daniel Peters and his wife, Robin, all of

Woodland and Deborah Baughman of State College; nine grandchildren, Denise Pelton,

Dennis Peters, Kimberly Brothers, Jacqueline Peters, Savanna Peters, Heidi Peters, Alison Peters, Brad Baughman and Brent Baughman; three great-grandchildren, Hunter

Pelton, Trevor Pelton and Arianne Way; a sister, Marjorie (Peters-Cassidy) Parks of Woodland and a brother, Eugene G. Peters and his wife, Charlotte of Woodland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Naomi Ruth Mitchell.

The family wants to give a special thank you to his caregiver, Ruth Fontenoy and his other helpers that he has had over the last nine years, ASERACARE Hospice and Conemaugh Home Health.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield, with Pastor Darl Ware officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services on Monday at the funeral home.
