CLEARFIELD – Market Street Studio & Gallery Manager Steve Albert invites the public to a “Meet the Artist” event from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday.
Local artist Kristen Henderlong will be there to sign copies of her award-winning painting “Essence of Light.” The artwork depicts sunlight illuminating a small Haitian classroom through an earthquake damaged window.
In 2010, Henderlong visited Haiti on a mission trip to help rebuilding efforts after the devastating earthquake.
“We are proud to display Kristen’s work and hope the community comes out to support and encourage this young artist,” said Albert.
Henderlong won an area Clearfield High School art competition sponsored by the Susquehanna River Arts Center and then went on to win a statewide Congressional competition in 2012. Her painting hung in the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. for an entire year alongside other high school artists from across the nation.
Limited edition signed and numbered prints as well as postcards will be available for sale. The proceeds will go to help Henderlong’s college fund. She will be starting her second year at Kingswood University studying Global Missions.
