Obituary Notice: Charles D. Finger

Charles D. Finger, 61, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1952, he was the son of Benjamin A. Finger and Jacqueline (Stubbs) Finger.  His mother survives and lives in DuBois.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War.

On May 2, 1987, he married Kathy Lou (Stafford) Finger.  She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2011.

Mr. Finger worked as the veteran’s representative and an employment counselor at Career Link for many years.

He was a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Auxiliary Post 17, where he served as past commander and was influential in the American Legion baseball program.  He was also a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He’s survived by two step-daughters, DeLean Wagner and Char Cavalier, both of DuBois; a sister, Ellen Kay Overton and her husband, Sam of DuBois; a brother, James A. Finger and his wife, Marlene of Rutland, VT; and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Robert B. and Paul S. Finger.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. An American Legion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A military ritual service will be held at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the Dubois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
