Ernest G. Lyons, 75, of Luthersburg died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 5, 1938 in Troutville, he was the son of the late Ernie and Mary Alice (Kuntz) Lyons. On Sept. 6, 1958, he married Caroline Mae Spencer. She survives.
He was a drill operator for 30 years. He worked at both Benjamin Coal Company and Forsyth Drilling.
He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church. He enjoyed hunting and camping.
He’s survived by five children, Cynthia A. Bontempo and her husband, Domenic, Shelly L. Senior and her husband, Scott and Michael E. Lyons and his wife, Sharon, all of DuBois; Scott A. Lyons and his wife, Karen of Luthersburg; and Sandra M. Hryn and her husband, Patrick of Rockton; four sisters, Grace Larson and Florence Muth, both of Punxsutawney, Shirley Nobel of DuBois and Marily Bukowsky of Troutville; a brother, Ronald Lyons of DuBois; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lyons.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Beard officiating.
Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
