Paul J. Mellott, 70, of Avis died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at the Susquehanna Health-Williamsport Hospital in Williamsport.
He was the son of the late Arthur and Jennie (Hinkle) Mellott, born April 11, 1943 in Bedford County. He married Barbara (Wayne) Wayne-Mellott on July 17, 1999 in Altoona. She survives him at home.
Mr. Mellott was of the Episcopal faith. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons of Altoona.
He was a retired highway construction inspector/CDS operator. He was a 1961 graduate of the Altoona Area High School and attended Penn State University, Altoona Campus, where he studied mechanical engineering.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mellott was preceded in death by two sisters, Olive Smith and Dolly Stroup and two brothers, Glenn Mellott and Lawrence Mellott.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Arthur Mellott of California; a sister, Virginia Delozier of Pittsburgh; and two brothers, James Mellott and his wife, Patty of Martinsburg and Robert Mellott and his wife, Shirley of South Carolina.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Church of Yellow Creek in Hopewell, with James F. Wayne officiating. Burial will be at the Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery in Hopewell.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills.
