Maxine L. Stankavich, 85 of Falls Creek died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Christ the King Manor. Born March 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Erma (Rhodes) Morrison.
On May 3, 1947, she married Benedict J. Stankavich. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1998.
She retired as a hand liner from the Jackson China Company in Falls Creek after more than 30 years of service. While there, she was very involved in union leadership.
She was a member of both St. Joseph & St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church.
She was a graduate of the Falls Creek High School, where she was a cheerleader for four years. She enjoyed bowling, doing jigsaw puzzles, word games and crocheting. She loved her dog, Mitzi.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Weis and her husband, James of Falls Creek, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Short, two brothers, Robert and Jimmy Morrison, an infant sister, Evelyn Morrison and three sisters, Norma Hallowell, June Erick and Lorraine McKendrick.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Dan Kresinski officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
